Vincent Laur is a professor at the University of Western Brittany (UBO, Brest, France). Since 2020, he is in charge of the SMART team. He teaches in the Department of Electronics at the Faculty of Science and Technology of UBO where he is responsible for the Master Radiofrequency Electronics and Telecommunications
Vincent Laur obtained his PhD in 2007 at UBO on a topic concerning the study of ferroelectric thin films for the design of tunable microwave devices. In 2018, he joined the XLIM laboratory as a CNRS post-doc. In 2009, he worked on the design of tracking stations at Hyptra company in Normandy as a project manager. He was recruited as an Assitant Professor in the Functional Materials team of the Lab-STICC at UBO in September 2009 and defended his Habilitation to Supervise Research in October 2018. Since September 2019, he is a Professor in the SMART team. His research activities are focused on three themes: i) microwave characterization of materials, ii) modeling of ferrite components and iii) composite materials for electromagnetic absorption.
He has participated in 2 European projects, 7 ANR projects, 2 ESA ARTES projects and 6 CNES R&T projects. He was the coordinator of the ANR project ASTRID 3DRAM from 2014 to 2017 which gave birth to a new activity within the team around the shaping by additive technologies of electromagnetic absorbers. Vincent Laur is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Journées Nationales Micro-ondes, the Journées de Caractérisation Micro-ondes et Matériaux and Space Passive Components Days. He is the co-author of more than 100 international publications and conferences.
