Paulo Santos received his PhD degree in artificial intelligence from Imperial College, London, UK, working on the development of spatial reasoning systems for mobile robots under the supervision of Murray Shanahan. He was a research assistant at the School of Computing, University of Leeds, UK developing research on Cognitive Vision Systems. Dr. Santos led a research group in AI and Robotics in Sao Paulo, Brazil, until 2019, conducting a number of research projects of industrial interest. Currently Dr. Santos is the Associate Professor of AI and Robotics at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia.
Dr. Santos has published the results of his research in key journals such as the Artificial Intelligence Journal, Spatial Cognition and Computation, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and Applied Intelligence Journal. Most of his published material reflects his interest in spatial cognition and automated reasoning systems, with emphasis on robotics applications.
