Alexandru FRUNZA, "A Parametric Network for the Global Compensation of Physical Layer Impairments in Coherent Optical Communications"

Abstract :

A new compensation network architecture is proposed to mitigate several linear and widely linear effects in coherent optical systems. This approach performs a global impairments compensation by benefiting from the model knowledge and flexibility of Machine/Deep Learning approaches. The proposed method estimates and compensates for the chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, carrier frequency offset, IQ imbalance, and laser phase noise. The proposed parametric network proves its effectiveness in terms of statistical performance and computational complexity.
